About the event
Back in time to the last Saturday of May 2023, Saddle Club is proud to be a guest-riders on the Kuala Gandah National Elephant Conservation Centre ride tour organized by one of our committee members, the owner of Bino Motorcycle Rentals . Our 4 members including Mr. Zairye a.k.a. Bino and other riders from Germany, Japan, Ukraine, Lithuania, Scotland, Italy, Thailand and some Malaysians joined this public ride tour.
Tour departs from Bino Motorcycle Rental at 8:15 am. 6 superbikes headed to the second meeting point, which is the largest BHP gas station in Karak. From there got together with 7 other riders, while most of them didn't know each other, but everyone was really excited about the ride. At the same time, the station is also a popular meeting point for most riders.
Around 10 am continue riding to Lemang Toki 2, the breakfast spot. This local Malay stall serves delicious lemang rendang chicken. This place is another popular hangout for most riders. On the signboard in front of the restaurant, you will found that there were many stickers from different motorcycle teams.
The journey continue to the elephant sanctuary after almost an hour break. The road leading to the elephant conversation centre is small and narrow, but the scenery is beautiful and full of greenery.
The Kuala Ganda Elephant Sanctuary is located in Pahang, a 1.5-hour drive from Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. This sanctuary is a rare place where the public can learn about elephants endemic to Malaysia. The Elephant Sanctuary was established in 1989 within the Krau Wildlife Sanctuary and is managed by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks Malaysia. Many orphaned elephants were raised and sheltered here. Visitors are encouraged to visit the place according to their schedule of events. There also provides foods for sale, visitor can buy some fruits such as sugar cane or bananas to feed these elephants.
After almost 1.5 hours in this sanctuary, all of the riders made a very generous donation to support elephant conservation, and we took a group photo in front of the main entrance to draw a successful conclusion to this trip.
